Chlorhexidine is either a shampoo or an oral solution for cats, dogs and horses.

Composition Chlorhexidin:

Chlorhexidine Shampoo:

  • Chlorhexidine Digluconate 3,0 g

Chlorhexidine Dental Cleaner:

  • Chlorhexidine Digluconate 0.05%
  • Xylitol 0,4
  • Zinc Gluconate 0,5
  • Malt extract
  • Glycerin
  • Thickeners
  • Preservatives
  • Authorized colorants
  • Other excipients 100% c.s.p.

Indications for use of Chlorhexidin, specifying the target species:

Chlorhexidine Shampoo:

  • Cats, dogs and horses:
    • External use shampoo for hygiene.
    • Especially indicated for cleaning and preserving the skin and hair of dogs, cats and horses.
    • It sanitizes the skin and hair of the animal (respecting the physiological pH) and contributes to the epidermal hydration and to the maintenance and restoration of the superficial hydro-lipidic layer (barrier effect of the epidermis).

Chlorhexidine Dental Cleaner:

  • Cats, dogs:
    • Product specially indicated to add to the drinking water of dogs and cats (from 6 months of age) and refresh their breath and maintain adequate oral hygiene, in conjunction with a regular program of care and oral-dental health.
    • Refreshes and fights bad breath.
    • Prevents plaque and tartar formation.
    • Pleasant taste.
    • Safe and easy to use (no brushing required).
    • Controls bacteria that develop in the drinking water container.

Amounts of Chlorhexidin to be administered and administration route:

Chlorhexidine Shampoo:

  • Shake before use.
  • Moisten the animal's skin and hair with lukewarm water.
  • Apply a sufficient amount of product (approximately 10-20 ml) and rub until a generous foam covers the entire body of the animal, preventing it from penetrating the eyes and ear canals.
  • Leave in contact for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with plenty of lukewarm water and dry.
  • Frequency of application:
    • 2 times a week, for 4 weeks.

Chlorhexidine Dental Cleaner:

  • It is recommended for use in dogs and cats, over 6 months of age, at the following doses:
    • Small dogs (weight less than 10 kg) and cats:
    • To 500 ml (½ litre) of drinking water add 5 ml of Chlorhexidine Dental Cleaner.
    • Dogs over 10 kg:
    • To 1 litre of drinking water add 10 ml of Clorhexidine Dental Cleaner.
  • It is recommended to use Clorhexidine Dental Cleaner in drinking water, 2 times per week.
