Banacep is a beige, oblong, biconvex and divisible film-coated tablet for cats and dogs.

Each Banacep film-coated tablet contains:

  • Active Substance:
Name Benazepril
Banacep vet 5 film-coated tablet for dogs and cats 4.6 mg
Banacep vet 20 film-coated tablet for dogs and cats 18.42 mg

    • Lactose monohydrate

Indications for use of Banacep, specifying the target species:

  • Dogs:
    • Treatment of congestive heart failure.
  • Cats:
    • Reduction of proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease.
  • Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
  • Do not use in cases of hypotension, hypovolaemia, hyponatraemia or acute renal failure.
  • Do not use in cases of cardiac output failure due to aortic or pulmonary stenosis.

Amounts of Banacep to be administered and administration route:

  • Oral use.
  • The product should be given orally once daily, with or without food. The duration of treatment is unlimited.

Banacep vet 5:

Dogs:

  • The product should be administered orally at a minimum dose of 0.25 mg (range 0.25-0.5) benazepril hydrochloride/kg bw once daily according to the following table:

> 10 - 20 1 tablet 2 tablets
  • The dose may be doubled, still administered once daily, to a minimum of 0.5 mg/kg (range 0.5-1.0), if judged clinically necessary and advised by the veterinary surgeon.

Cats:

  • The product should be administered orally at a minimum dose of 0.5 mg (range 0.5- 1.0) benazepril hydrochloride/kg bw once daily: according to the followingtable :

> 5 - 10 1 tablet

Banacep vet 20:

Dogs:

  • The dose is 0.23 mg benazepril /kg bw per day, corresponding to 0.25 mg of Benazepril hydrochloride / kg bw per day.
  • It should be given orally once daily, with or without food.
  • It corresponds to 1/2 tablet per 20 to 40 kg and 1 tablet for dogs of more than 40 kg given according to the following regime:

> 20 - 40 0.5 tablet
> 40 - 80 1 tablet
  • Dosage may be doubled, still administered once daily, if judged clinically necessary and advised by the veterinary surgeon.
  • To ensure correct dosage, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing.
