Treatment of coccidiosis in ornamental birds

Tabernil Sulfa is an oral sulphamide enhanced solution for ornamental birds, which combines two active ingredients with synergistic effects:

  • Sulfaquinoxaline, which acts as a paraminobenzoic acid antagonist, suppressing the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid essential for coccidides.
  • Pyrimethamine, derived from folic acid antagonist pyrimidine, which acts as a dihydrofolator reductase inhibitor.

Each ml of Tabernil Sulfa contains:

  • Active substances:
    • Sulfaquinoxaline (sodium) 40 mg
    • Pyrimethamine 10 mg
  • Excipients:
    • Polysorbate 80
    • Sodium hydroxide 40 %.
    • Propylene Glycol

Indications for use of Tabernil Sulfa, specifying the target species:

  • Birds (ornamental birds):
    • Treatment of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria spp. and Isospora spp. sensitive to the association of sulfaquinoxaline-pyrimethamine.

Amounts of Tabernil Sulfa to be administered o and administration route:

  • Administration in drinking water.
  • Dose:
    • Dilute 1.5 ml of the medication / litre of drinking water, which is equivalent to 3 drops of medication per 100 ml of drinking water, for 3 days in a row, rest for 2 days (non-medicated water) and continue with 3 more days of treatment.
  • The solution of medicated water should be prepared daily.
