Tabernil
Doxycycline 20 ml

Treatment of infectious, respiratory or digestive processes in birds

Prescription required* (Exceptions apply)

Tabernil Doxycycline is an antibiotic in oral solution for birds.

Tabernil Doxycycline composition:

  • Doxycycline (hiclate) 100 mg
  • Excipients: c.b.p. 1ml.

Indications for use of Tabernil Doxycycline, specifying the target species:

  • Treatment of infectious, respiratory or digestive processes caused by sensitive microorganisms. Treatment of chlamydia in psittacids. Before any infectious process, it is recommended to confirm the diagnosis bacteriologically and to carry out a sensitivity test of the bacteria causing the process.
  • Target species:
    • Birds (cage birds: canaries, goldfinches, parakeets, etc.).

Tabernil Doxycycline amounts to be administered and administration route:

  • Orally, in drinking water at the rate of 50 mg doxycycline/kg bw for 5 consecutive days.
  • In each case, the average water consumption of the animals to be treated should be established; as a guideline, 15 ml of water per 100 g of water per 100 g of volume per day should be taken as standard consumption, in which case the dose to be administered should correspond to 7 drops per 100 ml of water per day. The medicated water should be prepared daily.
  • For the treatment of chlamydia in psittaccides, the 50 mg dose of doxycycline/kg bw should be administered directly to the animals for 45 consecutive days, twice daily. (Equivalent to 0,5 ml of Tabernil Doxycycline/kg p.v.).
  • This dose corresponds to 1 drop per 100 g of animal protein, administered twice a day. For a correct dosage it is necessary to weigh the animals individually to establish the dose, taking as a basis that each drop provides 5 mg of doxycycline. Avoid its use in rusty feeders and/or drinking troughs.
